Dr. Ronald L. Miller consults in the areas of new energy technologies (emphasizing fusion energy), systems engineering, decision analysis, risk/value management and energy economics. 

Dr. Miller holds a Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  He worked as a technical staff member in the former Controlled Thermonuclear Research (CTR) Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) from 1975 to 1990.  His work on fusion power plant conceptual design continued in the Technical and Safety Assessment (TSA) Division [now known as the Decision Analysis (D) Division] of LANL until 1994.

He worked in the Fusion Energy Research Program at the University of California, San Diego from 1994 to 2002, continuing to contribute to the multi-institutional ARIES Team designs of stellarator and tokamak magnetic fusion power plants.  He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Fusion Energy (December 2021 to present).
